Summary

WHO SHOULD ATTEND ?

This course is designed to appeal to any geophysicists, geologists, petrophysicists or engineers interested in knowing about the fundamental of seismic data processing which is now play an important role in oil and gas exploration as well as reservoir characterization. Knowledge on the fundamental of seismic data processing will enable them to guide the processing centre to produce high quality seismic section which is more suitable for their need

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Fundamental is something from which all sophisticated methods originate. It is the spring of the state of the art of all modern technology.

Digital processing of seismic data is entirely a mathematical process. It consists of complicated mathematical operations which transforms the recorded seismic data into a seismic section which is ready for interpretation. An interesting thing of this course is that no matter how complicated the mathematical operations they are, it can be decomposed into a series of simple arithmetic operations which are easy to understand. Using this philosophy, the digital processing of seismic data can be explained clearly and fundamentally. This fundamental concept will be very beneficial for the geoscientists to grasp the basic principles of seismic data processing which in turn enables them to QC the quality of seismic section, in order to advise the seismic processing crew for the improvement of the section. In addition, not only does this course explain the processing steps in a simple way, but also the physics and geology behind the wave propagation which generates the seismic records will be explained in a simple and interesting way too.
