The 34th IPA Convention and Exhibition Aims to Help Boost Foreign and Domestic Investments

JAKARTA, 1 March 2010: The Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) announced today that it will hold its 34th Convention and Exhibition carrying the theme ”Investing Together for Future Growth”. As Indonesia’s premier event for the oil and gas industry, it aims to help boost and attract investments into Indonesia. Additionally, the event also supports the Indonesian government’s endeavour for mapping and alleviating major technical and non-technical challenges within the country’s oil and gas industry.

The convention and exhibition will be held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) from May 18th to May 20th, 2010. The convention will feature prominent industry speakers – senior government officials, renowned practitioners, academicians, and analysts – sharing their views on investments, the latest technology and innovations. More than 100 multinational and local companies, representing the key players in the oil and gas industry will participate in this exhibition.

IPA President, Ron Aston, believes the event will help to resolve the current technical and non-technical challenges faced by the oil and gas industry. “The 34th IPA Convention and Exhibition is part of the Association’s efforts to continue broadening and improving the capability of Indonesia’s oil and gas sector towards technology advancement. This high profile forum will bring together the industry’s key players at a platform that will showcase and discuss the latest technology and innovations.”

Mr. Aston added, “This is a strategic opportunity for related stakeholders to have a dialogue to address the challenges faced by the oil and gas industry and to work together to come up with the best possible solutions. We believe the combination of technology, knowledge advancement and commitment from all key stakeholders will result in improving the investment climate in the oil and gas sector which, in turn, will boost the Indonesian economy at large.”

In line with IPA’s mission to promote knowledge transfer, skills and technology, this event will also provide opportunities to high school and college students from several local and overseas universities, especially those majoring in engineering and geology, to obtain first hand knowledge and to meet with the key players in the oil and gas industry in Indonesia.
