Stratigraphic correlation and paleontological evidence show that the lower Keutapang sandstone was deposited in coastal and shallow marine envkonments. Sedimentary structures, constituents, texture and E-log shapes further classify the coastal environment into deltaic, interdeltaic and estuarine. This environmental pattern, interpreted on the basis of data at hand and by comparison with modem analogues, is consided useful for further exploration efforts.
