Implementation of pump upsizing in SLO North sustain increased production performance and leads to world class reservoir management

Pump upsizing jobs have historically been an effective tool for Proactive Routine Service to deliver oil gains. The objective of pump upsizing is to accelerate recovery from wells with sub-optimal performance. This initiative become not a priority due to no technical analysis conducted that support the decision to execute upsizing job. The look back of recently successful upsizing works in Sumatera Light Oil (SLO)-North was conducted in order to identify variables that minimize the risk of coning and provide sustained production gains. The look back concluded that high water cut wells (water cut > 80%) are able to sustained water cut performance and increased production performance. The conclusion of this project was that increasing fluid production by 100% does not increase the water cut performance SLO –North divided into three (3) major teams, every team has different selection criteria to generate the upsizing candidate. This project created an integrated workflow and screening tool across Sumatera Light North Operation. As the result, execution of pump upsizing work increased by 100% (to 20 jobs/month) from the baseline10/jobs/ month by increasing the success ratio from 65% to 85%. Furthermore, the project team has successfully executed 45 jobs with result: • Oil gain: 1,800 bopd or 40 bopd/well • Production decline stable at 30% and water cut at 97%. • No significant increasing on water cut.
