Implentation of Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) Simulation as Project Assurance Process

Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 41st Ann. Conv., 2017

In 2015, Santos (Sampang) Pty. Ltd facility operates eight wells at Oyong Wellhead Platform and two wells at Wortel Wellhead Platform. Gas produced from Wortel WHP is delivered directly to single line 14-inch pipeline to Grati Onshore Gas Processing (Grati OPF) Facilities. While the gas produced from Oyong WHP (25 MMscfd approximately) was delivered to Seagood Production Barge for liquid-gas separation and compression process through Low Pressure (LP) and High Pressure (HP) Compressor to Grati OPF mixed with Wortel gas. Aligned with Sampang production optimization plan, Gas compression system debottlenecking assessment was performed. The assessment scope covers analysis on the facilities performance overall and compression system performance on the Seagood production barge. Due to recent operating conditions change of the well stream with declining on pressure and production, the existing LP gas scrubber (V-106) has low separation performance. Downstream LP compressor may suffer because of unacceptable liquid carry-over. Liquid carry-over to LP compressor requires draining every 2 hours (800 ml/day in total). If modification of LP scrubber internals will be performed, it requires a long shutdown period resulting in loss of revenue. Space availability for new installations is also limited. Debottlenecking of the scrubber by installing a De-liquidizer. De-liquidizer as part of the upstream piping is proposed to ensure proper protection of the downstream LP compressor. The proposed debottlenecking solution comes with a minimal space requirement and shutdown time, which makes it attractive compared to alternatives. The De-liquidizer is a cyclonic separator that removes liquid from a gas stream. The liquid is routed to the liquid phase of the scrubber. This reduced liquid loading to the scrubber inlet device and demisting internals improves the performance of the scrubber.
