Sisi Nubi Shallow Gas Methodology: An Integrated Study For Future Field Development

Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 43rd Ann. Conv., 2019

The Sisi Nubi shallow gas development methodology was developed as an attempt to slow down the natural production decline through finding new reservoir targets. This method used a classical amplitude interpretation approach for gas sand reservoir where amplitude at CDP gather brightening at far offset (AVO class III), lithoseismic cubes were also created from inverted seismic as part of seismic-reservoir calibration, which further increases the level of confidence. Three shallow wells were drilled and used as blind tests. The results were encouraging in terms of reservoir presence, net pay, porosity and water saturation at the wells. All of those variables were incorporated in this methodology and will be discussed at the end of this paper. Overall, seismic has great advantages for characterizing shallow gas and it has opened new plays for Sisi Nubi in the future. As this method is still in the early stage of utilization, more data from new wells is expected to improve the calibrations.
