Successful marginal field development: Ikan Pari Field - Natuna Sea

Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 19th Ann. Conv., 1990

The Ikan Pari Field, discovered in 1983, is located 50 miles northeast of the Conoco operated Udang Field in 325 feet water depth. The mapped oil reserves were deemed too small to be developed by installing a conventional production platform. Conoco developed the field using four seafloor completions, which are connected to and produced through a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) barge. This production system is now producing Indonesia's deepest offshore oil field and is also adaptable to much deeper waters. A unique wireline re-entry system permits the wells to be easily entered for wireline work. The development of Ikan pari also includes the use of a unique floating flare which operates at a safe distance away from the FPSO. The four Ikan Pari seafloor wells were drilled, selectively completed, and tied to the FPSO for a total cost of 19 million USD.
