The development of the Sisi Nubi Field phase I - a gas field offshore in East Kalimantan Province

Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 32nd Ann. Conv., 2008

The 1st phase development of Sisi Nubi Field has been completed last year and start-up was successfully performed in November 2007. The objective of the Sisi Nubi Phase 1 was to build production facilities to accommodate a 350 mmscfd gas plateau rate, with a peak production rate of 450 mmscfd. The 1st phase development was started right during market turmoil in oil and gas activities - due significantly to the increase in oil and steel prices - leading to tender fail which lead project rescheduling. Contracting Strategy had been as well redefined to overcome the market challenge. Furthermore, several challenges had to be overcome during the field development, the most notable such as: Shallow gas as identified during the exploration phase; Sour service welding and pipelines; Launching of Sisi Jacket; Close co-ordination and interfaces between construction spreads and drilling rigs during offshore installation campaign. With innovative contracting strategy, implementation of rigorous procedures and excellent project coordination, Sisi Nubi Phase 1 Project was finally completed on schedule, within the approved budget and with excellent safety records.
