PT PHE ONWJ has 5 offshore platforms in the west production area, namely Z, P, M, L, and K. Z oil has a very high viscosity (>6400 cPs) and high Wax Appearance Temperature (WAT) value 24 oC. The Z and P (ZP) platforms only have one distribution pipeline with a pipe age more than 38 years which has never been Pigged. InnerVue inspection for deposit profiling carried out in 2022, found a total deposit volume of 3403 m3 (heavy deposit) in the distribution pipe. Z oil which has high viscosity and high WAT value makes flow assurance along the pipeline poor, and result in unstable pressure and water cut to Central Processing Facilities. This requires innovation to maintain flow assurance and maintain pipeline integrity.
PHE ONWJ innovates the 1st method by injecting dual chemical on Z Crude (2,500 ppm of flow improver + 1,500 ppm of aromatic solvent). The 2nd method is lowering pressure in the P Platform. Lowering pressure is carried out by flowing Z oil into the Atmospheric Separator at the P platform (Junction Station), so that the pipe network pressure drops from 200 Psig to 60 Psig. The 3rd method is blending the Z oil with P oil which has high temperature and high cut.
This method has proven to be able to reduce the oil viscosity & WAT value of the Z oil (drops to 20 oC). The application of this method is also able to reduce the need for chemical injections in the form of a flow improver at Z Platform. Achieved 100% the yearly production target with minimum cost of surface facilities optimization.
