The Corridor Block, covering six operational fields, employs nearly 700 personnel, including both employees and contractors, who rely on a fleet of approximately 201 vehicles. This substantial vehicle usage has increased travel distances, leading to an increase in Motor Vehicle Incidents (MVIs).
A review of incident data from 2019 to 2021 revealed that the majority of incidents were related to land transportation, making it a key focus area. In response, the Motor Vehicle Incident Combat Program, along with the Mobile Digital Video Recorder (MDVR) System, was launched. This initiative uses an Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered approach that integrates Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS).
The systems are centered on developing an integrated network designed to oversee and ensure the safe operation of both vehicles and drivers. These AI systems are also designed to continuously analyze data to predict and prevent risky driving behaviors. This includes real-time AI-powered surveillance through the MDVR system and the regulation of critical factors that contribute to incidents.
Since the program’s rollout in July 2022, AI-driven insights have led to a 77% reduction in MVI cases, with zero recorded accidents since October 2022 to June 2024. Further analysis reveals that the primary contributing factor to MVI cases was driver behavior. By deploying MDVR System through the Motor Vehicle Incident (MVI) Combat Program, there has been a significant shift toward fostering a culture of safe driving. This collective human and AI-driven effort has been instrumental in achieving an incident rate approaching zero as of January 2025.
