Tenaris provided more than IDR1 Billion for Education

One of the IPA associate member, TenarisSPIJ (PT. Seamless Pipe Indonesia Jaya), a steel pipe manufacturing company and other related services for the Indonesian energy industry, held a Merit Award and a donation for school renovation.

Merit Award is one of the company's social investment programs to support the improvement of education in the Cilegon City area. Aiming to support the government by providing solutions in education and in line with social investment programs, Tenaris allocates a large portion of its funds to improve the quality of education for outstanding students in Cilegon City. In contrast to scholarships, in terms of language the Merit Award is an achievement award given by Tenaris to students with the best achievements in their schools.

This year, the Merit Award program was given to 176 students from 10 schools (4 junior high schools, 3 high schools and 3 vocational high schools) with a total value of more than Rp. 578 million (USD 40,600). The program this time is the 8th program held in Cilegon and the 14th time held in Indonesia.

Along with the Merit Award, today TenarisSPIJ handed over a total of Rp. 403. Million (USD 28,320) for the renovation of a school facilities at the SMPN 3 Cilegon (Junior High School) and SDN Kotasari Cilegon (Primary school). This donation program has also been carried out in Cilegon every year, last year TenarisSPIJ handed over school construction assistance to Al-Khairiyah Islamic Integrated Vocational School amounting Rp. 217.5 million.

Apart from the Merit Award program and donations for school renovations, Tenaris also regularly provides scholarships to undergraduate students through the Roberto Rocca Education Program (RREP). Last week in University of Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta also in University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa a new RREP was held by providing scholarships with a total of more than Rp. 318 million (USD 20,400) to 24 technical students. In total, this year Tenaris Indonesia handed over assistance of Rp. 1,200,229,120 for education in Indonesia. (PR/pos)
