Ardjuna B-structure - a case history

The Ardjuna B-Structure is located 60 miles northeast of Jakarta in the Pertamina- IIAPCO-ARC0 Production Sharing Contract Area (figure 1). This was the first offshore production sharing contract awarded in Indonesia. The agreement between Pertamina and 1IAPC,'o was signed in August 1966. Sinclair Oil farmed into the area in 1967 and became the aperator. Atlantic Richfield, the present operator, merged with Sinclair in 1969. Other Partners in the contract area include IIAPCO (a division of Natomas International), Carver- Dodge Oil Company, Ramah Properties and Japan Low Sulphur Oil.The Ardjuna BStructure was the second offshore oil discovery in Indonesia and is ptesently producing 35,000 BOPD from 24 wells. This paper traces the exploration and development history of the structure and describes the difficulties encountered in a new area where the geology is unknown.
