Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 39th Ann. Conv., 2015

PwC Indonesia conducted its seventh (7th) survey of the oil and gas industry, “Challenges for a new era – An investor survey of the Indonesian oil and gas industry” in the first quarter of 2015. The objective is to inform the public and private sectors in Indonesia and abroad, about Indonesia’s oil & gas industry, by soliciting industry feedback on five key areas of concern: a) supply and demand for oil & gas, b) employment , c) capital expenditure, d) challenges faced , and e) competitiveness The report shares findings from an online survey of almost 100 personnel in management, financial and operational roles in over 75 companies in the Indonesian oil & gas/oilfield service industry. Both quantitative and qualitative data has been used to conclude on trends in industry perception in these five areas and identify specific fiscal, legal and bureaucratic challenges. In response to the current environment, in this 7th edition we have sought to capture the perspectives of investors in regard to utilisation of Indonesia’s gas resources and asked investors to identify what are perceived as the immediate critical steps for the success of Indonesia’s oil & gas industry in this new era. Readers of the survey and attendees at the presentation will gain a view on industry perceptions of the five key areas, as well as an understanding the challenges which may hinder the sector’s full investment potential. The findings may also be useful to parties tasked with regulatory or bureaucratic reform for the industry.
