Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 33rd Ann. Conv., 2009

As a gas and oil producer operating for more than 30 years, VICO Indonesia has committed to manage its operational environment. In implementing responsible work programs related to the environmental, Vico set up a Green Operation Plan in 1995, tasked with the continuous improvement of aspects related the the environment. The resulting Green Operation Plan is a set of Company policy statements and implementation strategies. Minimising the environmental impact of the Company Operations is a key aspect of the Companys environmental goals. Continuous environmental protection programs were set up and have been running well. All potential challenges that take place during years of operations are considered as targets to be achieved. Vico has established responsible operation programs and implemented environmental management systems, set up to improve its environmental practices. Through proactive assessment, the Company educates employees to improve operational performance and reduce the impact on the environment. Vico has programs to help the Company minimise its environmental footprint and improve environmental practices such as, rehabilitation and re-vegetation of critical sites, bioremediation of drilling cuttings, quarry management, and managing properly the disposal of hazardous materials. These programs support a continuous cycle of planning, implementation, review, and improvements. Key aspects of the strategy are to set up responsible programs, to implement regulatory compliance programs, and to have continuous improvement. The continuous rehabilitation and restoration projects have contributed significantly to ensuring the long-term sustainability of the operations. As a result of these programs Vico has been awarded the ISO-14001 Certification in 2002 and was re-certified in 2007, and has also achieved the Green-Rank Proper from KLH in 2007 having previously received the Blue-Rank Proper in 2005.
