Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 38th Ann. Conv., 2014

Sustainability (CSR) is one of company’s initiatives to transfer knowledge and technology for the community in the company’s operation area. eni, as an integrated energy company, is committed to realizing actions aimed at promoting respect for people and their rights, for the environment and, more generally, the widespread interests of the communities in which we operate by creating opportunities for local people and business. Schoolnet program is one of eni Indonesia sustainability activity in the form of educational program targeting school students in East Kalimantan. The aim of the program is allowing students to express their creativity by interacting with students from other countries and it represents one of the tools in promoting world diversities through education and technology transfer activities. Schoolnet is an occasion to remove barriers among nations, to know the girls and boys from other countries better, and also to learn more about their local traditions. In Indonesia this initiative is carried out in collaboration with local Educational Office, SKK Migas and other relevant Institutions. The schools involved in the project were requested to analyze deeply on the uniqueness of their culture, history and environment in order to promote knowledge and dialogue among different cultural identities in the world. This is in line with eni’s way of conducting business on being always aware of the integration with different cultures. Students were invited to produce short digital movies and drawings to describe the traditional festivities of their regions. The research on the rites, customs, costumes and products that are typical of the area, will help the students to understand the importance of traditions which enhance the memories, the identity and the future prospects of a community. This initiative of promoting diversities in local cultures is done through the use of digital technology: it allows to introduce to the younger generations the creative and digital businesses as one of the major industries for the future.
