Local resource management for green electricity through cooperative institutions for rural areas

Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 39th Ann. Conv., 2015

Green electricity is a source of electrical energy for society that is eco friendly and from natural resources. It is made by biomass. Biomass is also known as bio-resources or natural resources. Many studies suggest that biomass-derived energy will generate a large share of the energy supply when fossil energy/unrenewable energy prices increase. Currently, society has not seriously implemented the management of biomass due to lack of knowledge about its existence. The authors will analyze the existing local sources to be developed through a cooperative system. We can empower society and fulfill the need for electricity through sustainable energy management and eco-friendly and renewable resources, especially in rural areas. Then we can connect electricity to the unconnected areas. In addition, the concept of cooperative development is to increase public welfare. A cooperative is a business or organization owned by and operated for the benefit of those using its services. Profits and earnings generated by the cooperative are distributed among the members, also known as user-owners. This type of research is qualitative. The data were collected through observations and supported by literature studies. The results of this study can help determine the green electricity that can be managed as optimally as possible by empowerment through cooperatives in society.
