Perforation gain prediction by inflow characterization through historical PLT interpretation in mature offshore gas field

Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 39th Ann. Conv., 2015

Peciko is a mature gas field located in offshore Mahakam delta, Indonesia. More than 150 development wells have been put on production since 1999 with cumulative gas production 4.2 Tscf and 77 Mbbl of condensates. Production logging interventions (PLT) in Peciko field are important considering multi-layer reservoirs produced commingled in order to be able to reduce the uncertainties of production allocation, improved assessment of reservoir pressures and identification of water source impairing production. More than 400 PLT jobs have been conducted from year 2000 to 2011. In offshore context, well intervention is performed in campaign basis. Hence, the possibility of not having regular monitoring data acquisition in a particular well is high. As a consequence, making more values of available PLT data interpretation is useful to be able to understand the productivity of the reservoirs. This paper demonstrates statistical/empirical approach combined with theoretical well deliverability. Gas rate, drawdown in pseudo-pressure term m(p) , and inflow parameters from numerous PLT interpretations have been analyzed to characterize the reservoir productivity behavior following the field depletion. The objective of this characterization is to derive productivity from subsurface dynamic acquisition that represents real inflow-outflow performance. Combined with iterative calculation of vertical lift correlation generated specifically for Peciko field, future perforation gain can be predicted. An equation of productivity index can be deduced from given filtered data and can be used to calculate gas rate after perforation. However, uncertainties remain for high-productivity wells (Forchheimer A coefficient less than 10 kpsi2/cp/MMscfd).
