Pressure transient testing for pattern waterflood design

Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 20th Ann. Conv., 1991

Pressure transient testing recently completed in the Minas field is part of an extensive reservoir surveillance program designed to optimize pattern waterflood performance. Testing has included injectivity, step rate, pressure buildup, and interference tests. This paper summarizes how critical parameters such as required injection pressures, formation parting pressure, wellbore damage effects, sand continuity, directional permeability, vertical permeability, and the sealing nature of faults were determined for a pilot waterflood pattern in the Minas Field. Special field test procedures as well as analysis techniques are discussed.
