Application of Infill Grouting for Corrosion Damages at NGL-Junction Platform PHE ONWJ
Year: 2017
Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 41st Ann. Conv., 2017
The objective of this paper is to highlight the structural problem at NGL Junction (NGLJ) Platform owned and operated by PT. Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) and how to resolve it effectively and efficiently. As a main hub, NGLJ serves a crucial role in delivering crude oil produced from all ONWJ Field to Floating Storage Offloading (FSO) Arco Ardjuna. Any minor problems occur in the platform could possibly disrupt the production of 37,000 BOPD oil and 180 MMSCFD gas. Several physical damages due to heavy corrosion were observed on structural and nonstructural members at El. (+) 10 ft Jacket Walkway of NGLJ during inspection in 2012. Structural assessment shows that the damages decrease the platform integrity which may lead into structural failure. An innovation by performing infill grouting was proposed to repair the damaged members, making it the pilot project in Pertamina’s offshore field. Cement-like material NaXTM Q140 UHPC is injected into the damaged structural members, turning them into solid, concrete members. Linear analyses have been conducted to check the platform integrity before and after the application of infill grouting. The analysis results show that the application of infill grouting increases structural integrity of the platform significantly shown by the decrease of stress UC from 0.40 to 0.17. In conclusions, the application of infill grouting for structural damages has proven effective and efficient in increasing structural integrity. It also provides an alternative and budget friendly option for structural repair method in oil and gas industry.
