Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 34th Ann. Conv., 2010
Fifty years of field history has proved that successful oil and gas wells in the Lower Air Benakat Formation (ABF) of the Sungai Gelam Field. The reservoir generally interpreted as the transition deposits with facies-controlled variation of porosity and permeability. Four new wells are proposed to improve drainage of the oil-bearing Lower ABF reservoirs. To maximize the drilling success rate, the desired facies must be intersected, which requires a reliable facies distribution map. This study discusses the integration of the 2007 3D seismic data and existing well data to improve the facies distribution of the "X" Sandstone reservoir. The result of the study, "X" Sandstone reservoir is interpreted as tide dominated estuary facies, and can be classifieds into three facies, tidal channel, tidal sand bar and sand flat, which is sediment source comes from the eastern part of Sungai Gelam Field.
