Proceedings Title : Proc. Indon. Petrol. Assoc., 36th Ann. Conv., 2012
A series of tectonics phases occurred in certain area commonly influence geomorphic genesis in that area. Thus, tectonics manifestations had been recorded on landscape formation in recent time, and it can be analyzed to understand region tectonic patterns. Geologically, the research area is in Jambi Western Sub-Basin, particularly in south-western part of Muaralimun Sub-District, Jambi Province, Indonesia. This research aims to identify and determine a specific evolution of tectonics in research area during Cenozoic era and this research results can be considered as representation of regional tectonic evolution pattern for Jambi Sub-Basin. The study consists of two main series activity, field observation resulting Integrated Geological Map and studio investigation resulting tectonics reconstruction. Tectonics reconstruction is built by morphotectonic analysis (valley lineaments analysis on Digital Elevation Model (DEM) using Rose Diagrams) andfaults analysis using Stereographic method. This reconstruction is integrated with stratigraphic setting in research area intended to classify the lineaments and faults into stratigraphic units representing definite range of ages, furthermore each structure has a specific age of occurrence based on "Cross-Cutting Relationship" law. Thus, Chronology of tectonic evolution during Cenozoic in Jambi Western Sub-Basin is proposed in three main tectonic phases, as follow: the first phase is extension phase which was developed on Early Miocene with NE-SW stress orientation, the second extension phase was gone on Early Pliocene NEESWW stress orientation, and the last phase was * University of Gadjah Mada compressive phase which has taken place since Late Pliocene with NE-SW stress orientation and produced N-S Plawan Singkut dextral strike-slip fault complex. Keywords: Morphotectonic, Geological Structures, Lineament, DEM, Rose Diagrams, Cenozoic
